Quotes from Guests!

"Thanks for the great train ride, yesterday! My children loved the breeze in the open-air cars. They pointed at the big beaver lodges (my son with this little fingers curled under for the first time) along with the engineer. It was neat to see all the wetlands wildlife at the peak of summer vegetation. Thank you so much!"

"In the top 5 places to visit in New England.  If you are headed to the Valley, stop and take in a ride. Ride by DONATION! Where else besides CAMA can you get in for donation?   Chances are good if you live in New England, you will make your way to the   Mt. Washington Valley at some point over the next 6 months.....  I can't imagine not stopping here to take a ride!"

"Areas best kept secret! Fun ride, great staff that volunteer their time, interesting museum, and fun for all!"

"While I am in no way associated with the Silver Lake Railroad (the rails are too far apart), I would like to put in a brief "plug" for it. I visited it for the first time last year, expecting a rather slap-dash operation. Nothing could be further from the truth - this outfit is first class in every respect. Imagine a nice parking lot, attractive polyurethaned picnic tables with colorful umbrellas, a marvelously retro diner, and a perfectly restored station. The only thing they lack is real restrooms, but they do have the classiest porta-potty I've ever seen - running wash water and mirror no less! The rolling stock is very comfy and the views are good, too.

I'm looking forward to a return visit.

How could we resist the cute little open-car train at the head of Silver Lake? We ate lunch from the snack bar in the restored 1941 Diner and toured the 1910 Railroad Station, now a railroad museum, before boarding the Silver Lake Railroad for an hour-long excursion through the woods. For me, it was a piece of my childhood, riding on the same tracks that used to take me to Conway to visit friends in the summer.
